This website began as a poetry project, a home for my record of the strain on small colleges I love.

Every once in a while, though, there is some related work I want to share.

Some of that work takes the form of prose— essays written for donors, boards, and those stewarding institutions through complex realities of today. These pieces offer explanation and analysis beyond what the poems can attempt. They are not reflections on any single institution, but observations about higher education more broadly.

Sometime language worked to carry this weight, but at other times, I just needed music. So, I started creating  playlists to mark my mood and memory for the days when language was insufficient.

For whatever reason, the poetry remains the center for me. As with any center, though, it grows outward.
